  • 1 ounce gruyere or other sharp white cheese, very thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 package frozen fillo cup (about 15)
  • Fresh thyme leaves, optional

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.

2. 2. Sauté the sliced onions in a nonstick skillet over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are a deep, golden brown.

3. 3. Arrange the frozen fillo cup on a baking sheet.

4. 4. Spoon the caramelized onion mixture into each cup, top with the gruyere and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

5. 5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. 6. Garnish the bites with fresh thyme leaves if desired.

Notes

The caramelized onions can be made up to 3 days ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
