Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes
  • 2 packages (3 ounce each) ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips (about 1/4-inch thickness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cup fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds, garnish

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, cornstarch, beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.

2. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, drain them, and set them aside.

3. In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the sliced sirloin steak with salt and pepper, then add it to the hot pan. Cook the beef until it’s nicely browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside.

4. In the same pan, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Add the broccoli florets and the 1/2 cup of water. Cover the pan and let the broccoli steam for 3-4 minutes, or until it’s tender-crisp.

5. Add the cooked beef and ramen noodles to the pan with the broccoli. Pour the prepared sauce over the top and toss everything together to ensure the noodles, beef, and broccoli are evenly coated.

6. Let the mixture cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through.

Notes

This dish pairs beautifully with steamed rice or even more fresh vegetables, such as shredded cabbage or julienned carrots.
